About Us
Welcome to Pomerado Elementary School – Where Learning, Community, and Tradition Thrive.
Nestled in the heart of Poway, Pomerado Elementary School has been a proud part of the community since 1960, serving generations of local families. Today, our school is home to approximately 350 students in transitional kindergarten through fifth grade, along with vibrant early learning opportunities through our State-funded preschool and Special Education preschool programs.
Pomerado is a Title I school dedicated to using the supplemental funding we receive through Title I to elevate the educational programs to best serve our students and families. At Pomerado, academic success, student growth, student voice, and innovative practices are at the heart of everything we do.
We are proud to offer a wide range of programs designed to support student success and growth:
- Art and STEM Impact Teachers providing weekly hands-on enrichment lessons
- A full-time school counselor
- A Bilingual Parent Liaison (Spanish-speaking) who supports families with translation services as well as connecting families with necessary resources
Pomerado is more than just a school, it’s a true community. Our parents, guardians, and community members are essential partners in student success. Last year alone, more than 115 volunteers dedicated thousands of hours to supporting our students and classrooms.
Our Parent And Wildcats (PAWs) Educational Foundation is an active and enthusiastic group that helps enhance our programs through fundraising, events, and hands-on involvement. Whether it's through PAWs meetings, parenting workshops, weekly newsletters, or our popular Family Nights focused on academics, cultural diversity, and community-building, there are countless ways for families to stay connected and engaged.
From the outdoor learning spaces that expands our classrooms into nature, to the high-energy, on-task learners you’ll see in every room, Pomerado is a place where children are nurtured academically, socially, and emotionally. We are proud of our welcoming environment, passionate staff, and strong partnerships with families.
Pomerado is more than just a place of learning, it’s a place where children feel supported, encouraged, and inspired. Walk through our halls and you’ll find classrooms buzzing with curiosity, a community of caring parents, and a team of skilled educators who truly believe in the potential of every student.
